LearnGuide
Personalized learning roadmaps with secure accounts, AI-assisted planning and persistent progress tracking.
2025Spring Security/JWT accounts · modular roadmap generation.
Goals into persistent learning plans
LearnGuide turns a topic and time goal into a modular roadmap that can be saved and updated. Java/Spring Boot handles account APIs, service orchestration and progress; React renders dashboards and module cards. PostgreSQL persists users, courses, modules and completion state.
The OpenAI API supplies structured planning output, while the application owns authentication, storage and subsequent learner updates.
Goal to learning roadmap
- Learner prompt
- Authenticated API
- AI service
- Course modules
- Saved progress
Spring Boot coordinates generation and persistence; React presents the roadmap and completion state.
Key features
- Goal-based generation: accept a topic and learning duration and organize the result into modular steps.
- Personal dashboard: retrieve saved courses and learner-specific progress after sign-in.
- Resource context: attach recommended learning material to the relevant module rather than provide an unstructured list.
- Progress tracking: module completion updates the learner’s visual progress and stored course state.
Engineering decisions
Spring Security/JWT establishes access to user-specific API routes, with protected React views providing the corresponding entry point. Controllers separate authentication, generation and progress endpoints; services handle model interaction and roadmap parsing.
Generated topics become modules with resource context, rather than remaining an unstructured chat response. Saved course/module records support returning to a plan and updating completion. Progress bars reflect that persisted state. Controller/service/model separation keeps endpoint handling, generation logic and data shape distinct. The complete path connects secure accounts, goal-driven generation, saved cards and completion updates through a common stored roadmap model.
